A little something to make you think.

It is hard to realize that before public water systems in the USA (late 1800's, early 1900's) about half of the children died before they were 5 years old.

I watched a video at a friend's church by Pastor Rob Bell entitled "Rich". One of the things he said that really struck me is that "it is hard to remember that our world we live in is not THE world".

Pretty sobering.

Monk,

When we lived in West Africa, the conditions that our own neighbors had, regarding their water, was atrocious. We were fortunate; our mission provided us water filters. When we visited villages and ate there, we were ALWAYS conscious that the water we were drinking could kill us. It often made us very sick. I had giardia more times than I can count.

Yes, we live in Disneyland, as far as the rest of the world is concerned.
