Oklahoma 47 - Tulsa 14

OK, I know this is a tad late, but hey, it's Labor Day weekend!

My Sooners started out a bit slow and they worried me a tad.  But then, they found where second gear was and put the hurt on the Hurricanes!

Oklahoma 48 - UConn 20

Yes, we won, but I wasn't impressed with the way we played.

BUT - it is a "W" in the win/loss column!

Sooners Top BCS Poll

Much to the dismay and whining of lots of disgruntled Longhorns, Bulldogs, Tides, Tigers, Hogs, etc, the Oklahoma Sooners are currently number one on the BCS poll!

Oh that we can maintain our standing!

Oklahoma 28 - Texas 20

DeMarco Murray's dance down the sideline was one of the very best touchdowns I've ever seen!

Let's have some BBQ Bevo!

Oklahoma 27 - Air Force 24

It was nail biter, especially late in the 4th quarter, but the Sooners prevailed!

Oklahoma 47 - Florida State 17

We were expecting the Noles.  Looks like the semi-noles showed up!

Hated that last TD by FSU.  That stunk.

Oklahoma Falls to Number 10

After a very weak win over Utah State, Oklahoma fell to number 10 in both the AP and USA Today polls.

We're going have to do some serious damage to the Seminoles on Saturday if we hope to remain in the Top 10!

Sooners Looking for 800th Win Today

The Oklahoma Sooners are looking forward to winning their 800th game today over Utah State in our season opener in Norman.  Only six Division I teams have won 800 or more games; Oklahoma will make the 7th.

The other six teams are Michigan, Texas, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Ohio State and Penn State.

Notably, Alabama is not among them.  :)

JC Watts + Free Pizza = Walking with God

28 years ago tonight I was invited to the Pizza Bash at the OU BSU. JC Watts was the speaker. It was my first Friday night on campus and all I needed to hear was "free pizza". 28 years later, I am still influenced by the after-effects of that night. I went to OU to have season football tickets; I ended up learning how to walk with God.

Praise God for the OU BSU!

OKC Quick Trip

No, I'm not talking about a QuikTrip in OKC, but rather a very fast trip that Sally and I made last Friday.  She is required to submit her fingerprints to become a teacher.  She went to the Muskogee Police Department twice and they were rejected by OSBI twice.

So, since the State Department of Education has to have them on file before she interviews, and since her interview is Thursday, she and I made a mad dash to OKC to get her fingerprints taken.

On the way back to Wagoner, we stopped by Oklahoma Baptist University for Sally to buy a National Championship T-Shirt.  (they were out of her size).

But, as with any alum, it is always fun to visit your alma mater.  The picture above is of Sally in front of some hall that she told me the name of, but I can't remember.  I, after all, did NOT go to school at OBU.

I am a Sooner.

My Beloved Sooners

Not our best year, that's for sure.

I'm very proud of Landry Jones. He has really stepped up and did a fine job in difficult circumstances.

The difficult circumstances is the fact that he has been effectively playing alone. He has no protection. He has no receivers. And would the defense like to actually get off the bench and come and play the game?

I'm very sad about Sam Bradford. More than just because he can't play. He is a good kid and I hate to see him hurt.

I don't really know what happened in the Texas game at half-time. If we had played the second half like we played the first, we would have owned the Longhorns. Something happened, however, to make our guys start playing like they did against Miami.

We dropped from an embarrassing 20th place in the AP poll to an appalling 25th place. We aren't even ranked in the Harris Poll or the BCS.

There are lots of fair weather fans out there who get mad and stomp around, or worse, don't even support the team when we lose.

I'm different- I'm alumni.

Oklahoma 20 - Miami 21

We are four points from being 4-0 instead of 2-2.

This really stinks!

Where were the offensive blockers?

Where were the receivers?

Where was our defense?

Landry Jones did a good job; but the rest of the team forgot they were playing!

Good Grief!

Boomer Sooner anyway.

Like a rock

And not as in "Chevy tough" but in "falling like a".

The Sooner fell (rightfully so) down to 19 in the AP, 21 in USA Today, and 20 in the Harris polls.

Oklahoma State is 15, 13, and 14 respectively.

So much for any chance at all at the National Title this year....
