O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A !!!

My goodness I am having a good time here in beautiful NEOK! Yesterday was my sister's birthday. Pam is now in the last hurrah of her "30's" tour! Happy Birthday, Pammy-Pooh!

We had a BIG cookout today. Dad smoked a brisket, chicken, bologna, and sausage. Here is a pic to show how good it was.

We only have a few days left here. We will leave EARLY Saturday morning for our LONG journey back home. No doubt about it, though, we are having a blast!

Having fun

Tonight, I had to run down to the local IGA store to buy some milk. It is hanging on as the local grocery store in direct competition with a Super Wal-Mart, built about 2 miles away. It has had to discontinue selling many items, but I would still rather shop at Carter's, than to battle Super WM.

Anyway, it was so fun to walk down the aisles of a real grocery store, seeing people I know and drooling over familiar items. It was a good thing that I had just finished dinner, or I would have bought the store out.

I am having so much fun being in Oklahoma. It is just so beautiful here. They are haying now and the fields are covered with the huge 1 ton round bales. There has been enough rain that everything is still green. There is still water in the ponds and creeks. If you have never been to Oklahoma, and you decide to visit, you might be able to appreciate the beauty here. I hope so. Come and see "God's Country!"

Buy Wal-Mart Stock! Quick!

If you hurry and buy Wal-Mart stock before the next quarterly earning statement, I'll bet you will make some money! I know this because in the past few days, their earnings have gone up substantially, mostly due to my family's buying out the stores in Muskogee, Claremore, Owasso, and Vinita.

We are having such a good time seeing family and touring around. I haven't been fishing but twice and only caught a teeny-tiny perch. It has just been too hot for them to be biting good.

Hot Stuff!

It's supposed to be 105 degrees today. There is a "heat alert" out for Oklahoma. Here is the forcast for Tulsa from Yahoo:

Today: Abundant sunshine. Very hot. Heat index near 115F. High near 105F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.

Abundant sunshine. I don't think I've ever seen that in a forcast before! Thank the Lord for A/C!

Can you see the "sign"?

We took a drive to the country to the family cemetary, way out in the woods, then by Sally's grandparent's old farm. While we were out, we drove up to the Kansas state line and got this delightful picture of the girls. It was such a wonderful morning. The countryside here is just beautiful! God bless Craig County!

Enjoying Oklahoma!

Well, here we are in good ole Oklahoma! It is SO GOOD to see family and talk with friends. We have already enjoyed numerous trips to Wal-Mart and I made a trip to Daylight Donuts this morning. We enjoyed a boat trip with my mom & dad, where dad cooked hamburgers on the boat. It was great.

Another Visitor

I had another friend visit Chiang Mai. Randy Jordan and I went to college together at Oklahoma. I hadn't seen him in MANY years!

It was a good, but short, visit!

Reunion

This weekend, I had the wonderful opportunity to see some folks I haven't seen in a LONG TIME! 15 years or so. It was a great time of memories. Of course, between the four couples, there were 13 or 14 kids. (Too many to get an accurate count!)

Starting to look like a home

We are nearing the end of the great "unpack". I don't think we have but one or two more cardboard boxes to go, and they are full of stuff that you don't want to get rid of, but have no where to put it. Sally got the dining room finished last night. Not bad, huh?

Almost finished!

Well, we are getting closer and closer to being "done." And not a moment too soon! We are so tired of unpacking boxes and trying to find a place for all the junk. However, here is another picture to compare the progress.

Some progress being made

As you can tell, in comparing this picture with the one just
below, there is some progress being made in the unpacking of boxes. We still have a long way to go to get everything out of the silly boxes.

Getting settled

Well, we have made excellent progress in unpacking boxes and getting moved in. The biggest challenge has been finding a place for all of our junk. And, before I type another word, I want to thank God that He kept it from raining during our move. The next day, it rained cats and dogs after about 11 am. It has been raining off and on all day today. Thank you, Lord, for holding back the rain.

Unpacking boxes!

I tried to post a pic of us unpacking boxes last night, but it didn't "work". I will try again later when I have more time. Just suffice it to say that we are in the midst of unpacking about a million boxes! At least the A/C works!
