Trans Siberian Orchestra

I took Sally and the girls to the Trans Siberian Orchestra last Friday night as part of their Christmas presents. We really had a good time.

The light/laser show was incredible.

The music was REALLY loud!

I was impressed with an element of the first part of the concert; it was the Christmas part. They sang Christmas carols and seemed to actually emphasize the birth of Jesus. The narration was a little hinky and kind of hard to follow, but you could tell that Christmas was about Jesus!

The second half of the concert was actually best. They had pyrotechnics that were unbelievable. The picture above shows a platform that was raised 25 feet or so in the air. Pretty cool.

I might consider going again next year. Tickets were expensive ($48 each) and I'm not sure I'm willing to do that again.

I know it's wrong, but I'm jealous! I wanted to take my mother-in-law for Christmas, but she and the father-in-law will be gone when they are here in Michigan. I know they'll be here after Christmas, but that kindof eliminates the purpose. Maybe next year. I'm glad you had a good time! Sounds great. Thanks for sharing the pics!!!

Heh, one of my favorite Metal Band's Alter Ego. They are really the Metal Band "Savatage". They changed their sound just a 'little' bit along with their theme and now they are more popular than they've ever been. I'm glad for the guys in the band. Criss Oliva died in a car crash a few years ago; his brother is still in the band. It 'is' a great show, they usually do the current album in it's entirety then take the best of the rest for the 2nd half. I'd like to go see them again...Glad you enjoyed!

Mike, the pics really don't do it justice. Of course, I hadn't been to a concert in over 10 years, but as far as the "show" goes, this was pretty spectacular!

David, thanks for visiting and taking time to comment! Have a Merry Christmas!

Rick, Holy Moses, was that cool. I just saw TSO in Grand Rapids, MI tonight. What a show. I posted some pics and a video clip. WOW! I think they are my new favorite band.

Like you said, I think the 2nd half of the show was the best. While I liked the "rock opera" story narration in the first half, it was a little "mellow" too often. I found myself yawning in many quiet parts.

So when it got to halftime, I thought Chris was announcing the goodbyes. And when he said, "so-and-so will be singing a certain song in the 2nd half, I thought, "holy crap...it's already been about an hour and a half of music."

What a great show! I'm thinking this will become my Christmas tradition.

And by the way, what a great Christocentric message in the first half, eh?
