Route 66

Original Rt 66 pavement in Creek County, Oklahoma

Sally and I both grew up in towns along Route 66; she in Vinita, me in Sapulpa. On our drive from Oklahoma City to Tulsa, there are still some portions of the original Route 66 to be seen. We took a short detour from the new road and gave our girls and Renee the opportunity to drive on history.

I read that John Lassiter, who created PIXAR, was totally lost as to how to follow up Finding Nemo. A friend suggested he rent a convertable and just go driving on Route 66. He did that, and the result was Cars. After reading about how the drive affected him, I want to go. Now all I need is 6 months and a convertable!

B,

That's pretty cool. I didn't know that. Rte 66 is a pretty neat trip.
