Aunt Jessie

On this Memorial Day, I choose to remember Jessie Yerian.  Aunt Jessie was my mother's mother's mother's sister.  She and her other sisters, specifically, Aunt Mabel and Aunt Hazel and my grandmother spent lots of time together.

Aunt Jessie lived alone in Grove at Grand Lake.  She was widowed for the second time in the 1970's  and never remarried.  As an older teenager, I would go and spend a few days with her in the summer time.

Aunt Jessie loved to laugh.  She could tell the funniest stories and always had a smile on her face.  She made the best carrot cake I've ever eaten and had some pear preserves that were to die for.  I've never had any other pear preserves that even comes close.

She was one of the sweetest persons I've ever known.  She passed away about 15 years ago or so, but I have the assurance that I will see her again because of her faith in Jesus Christ.  She trusted Him and received eternal life.  While I miss her greatly, her life impacted me intensely.

Aunt Jessie, thanks for teaching me how to love God and love others!
