I'm not sure I agree about the fear component either Debbie. I have seen many people make an "emotional" response to God.

Maybe I will revisit the verses like "Fear not." Does that mean to fear not only after coming to the undertanding that the Lord God is with you?

When I think of fear of the Lord, I think it means respect. That's healthy.

But what is NOT beneficial is the other kind of fear. It is a spirit of fear.

Timothy 1:7: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (NKJV).

To me that means a spirit of fearfulness and timidity does not come from God.

Another:
Isaiah 41:10
“Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” Often we fear the future and what will become of us. But Jesus reminds us that God cares for the birds of the air, so how much more will He provide for His children? “So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows” (Matthew 10:31).

There are many verses on God being our refuge and about not fearing.

I agree that the movie could be used as a took to cause someone to give serious consideration to where they will spend eternity.

By the way, we sat by the RUDEST movie goers ever the night we went. The lady had her feet on the chair beside me and chomped her popcorn for two hours straight -- open mouthed. And her guy friend talked OUT LOUD throughout the entire movie pointing out every hokey thing. (Like "Oh yea, like they have broadband or DSL in the midst of that one.) He had someone sitting a seat away and talked without whisper. Ugh! I have little tolerance for 50 somethings that do such things.

I read on a Yahoo! news report that the writer and director decided not to blow up the Ka'baa for fear of a Fatwa being issued for them...but every other big religious symbol important to other religions except Islam was blown up. Is that true? I probably won't watch it (so you can spoil it for me :) ) since the trailer didn't look that interesting to me. But I'm glad you liked it.

I agree with you about people being scared to at least consider their own mortality and their need for Christ!

Thanks for your comment! I see where you are coming from and agree with you to a point. However, people are so complacent now, that perhaps this will be the catalyst to get them to see for answers that are greater than their current world view allows.

Most people have no idea what would happen to them if the end of the world does come about; maybe they might want to figure it out before it actually happens.

I agree with you that I don't want people to come to Christ out of fear, but I do want people to come to Christ. When I wrote what I did, I meant that perhaps this will spur spiritual conversations to initiate that process...

I didn't marry my husband out of fear, nor did he. Fear is temporary and most times only produces a false confession. Christ says to come as little children, not because we are afraid of going to hell.
