Boy, did we fall!

Oklahoma is now rated #10 in the country. I predicted we would fall to 12-15, so I am grateful that we didn't "plunge". Texas is now rated 19.
I noticed this weather pattern on the radar for this next week. Hmmm.

Oklahoma 24 - Colorado 27

I told Sally, when the Sooners made that last fumble, "There goes our chance at a national championship this year".

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Container Saga, continued

I heard today from the Freight and Travel section at the Board. They said that the container was offloaded in Houston on Monday and will need to clear customs. He said we can expect it near the end of next week.

Believe it or not, this is NOT bad news!

Reason? Emily's birthday is this Friday. She is having a sleepover party Friday night. An entire container's worth of boxes and furniture would only serve to complicate the goings-on of the party.

So, next week it is.

I can't wait to unload the stuff to set up my Oklahoma memorial in my new office and other stuff to decorate it with; my fairly new home theater system; and my collections of foreign currency. The girls are waiting for their toys. Sally wants her kitchen.

It should be like Christmas for all!

Way to Go, BoyneBlog!

Back on March 1, 1997 (or there abouts), I created my very first webpage on GeoCities. That was before blogs (or before I knew about them). GeoCities, Tri-Pod, and AngleFire were the three big places where you could get free websites. I thoroughly enjoyed it and even learned some html code. I used FrontPage to create my website and kept it updated with pictures of Audrey and other important things. So, in 10 years, I have had 19,730 visitors to The Boyne Family Home Page.

I started BoyneBlog on August 3, 2004, when I lived in Thailand. I really didn't know what blogs were all about. I created it to have a forum to post annonymous random thoughts. However, I quickly discovered its potential. Initially created as the "Goofblog", I changed the name to BoyneBlog and haven't looked back.

Today, in 3 years, my BoyneBlog stats have surpassed that of The Boyne Family Home Page.

Oklahoma rated 3rd in nation

The week 5 AP football poll is out and OU is #3 in the nation.

Still #1 in my books, though.

Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma

I took a little picture taking trip to the fort at Fort Gibson. Yes, it is an actual fort. It was used by the US Army from 1824 to 1890. Jefferson Davis was assigned there in the 1830's. It is a beautiful piece of American history, worth the drive.

You can get opening information about the site here.

My! I had no idea the outhouses were that nice back then!

Note the slots to shoot through.

The kids couldn't stand being together and NOT being in the hot tub!

Weiner Roast

Saturday night, my folks invited us to their place for an old fashioned weenie roast. Dad built a fire pit a year or two ago and has a really great place for it on their property. It was a perfectly cool night for such an event. Sally and my sister-in-law were actually chilly, so they enjoyed the fire. My cousin and one of her friends brought their guitars and she and Sally played songs and several of us sang.

I have some pictures, but I don't have a laptop any more (I had to send it back to Asia) so I am not able to conveniently download the pics from my camera to the computer whenever I want. Hopefully, I'll get it done tomorrow and get some pictures up.

My folks said that they want to make it a weekly thing until it is too cold to sit outside comfortably. That is just fine with me.

Container Saga

Well, it appears that our container is enjoying an extended holiday in the Caribbean. Supposedly, it was loaded up on a container ship MCS Pride from the Dominican Republic and is set to sail into Houston sometime this week. Evidently, one of the hurricanes kept it from being able to pass through the Panama Canal and it missed it transshipment from the DO.

We'll see if it actually makes it here. I sure hope it was water-tight!

Never Ending Saga

I just found out that our container shipment from Hong Kong is going to be delayed. Due to a paperwork error in Hong Kong (presumably by the forwarding agent), our container is now sitting in a port in the Dominican Republic!

The man at the Board is doing some checking, but now it looks like it is a matter of prayer.

Honey Buns

We, as a family, like honey buns. Iced or not-iced, we like them. Sally found a box of eight iced honey buns yesterday at the store and we had one for breakfast (after the girls went to school).

When Sally went to pick up the girls from school yesterday afternoon, they ran on in the house ahead of their mother. By the time Sally got in, they had found the honey buns and were well into eating them. Sally gave them a hard time and said, "Hey! Those are MY honey buns!". Audrey, ever the astute child that she is, said, "We aren't overseas anymore!".

Sally was telling me about that this morning as we were having another honey bun. We NEVER saw them for sale when we lived in Africa, and the ONLY time I ever saw them for sale was when I visited Mongolia. So, we laughed together and said that at least we didn't have to go to Mongolia for our honey buns! Ain't America Great?!?

My Favorite TV Show

When we lived in Thailand, we got hooked on BBC's "Top Gear". It is basically a car show, but it is filled with fun and humor as it reviews different shows. The presentor, Jeremy Clarkson, a very large opinionated man, is forthright in his assessments and spot on with his criticisms.

I wrote BBC America when we arrived back on because I could not find that "Top Gear" was even offered in the US. They wrote back and apologized, but said that they had no plans for "Top Gear" to be presented in the US market any time soon.

Well, enough people must have asked for it, because I finally got to watch it last night!

Oklahoma 79 - North Texas 10

Oh my goodness! 4 more points and we would have broken the "most points in a game" record. I think we should have gone for it, but Stoops is too much of a nice guy, I guess.
